Selling Your House
There is no easy five step guide to how to prepare your house to sell. Selling your house will be one of the most difficult and time-consuming things that you ever do. Not only will it be financially draining and time consuming, but it will probably be intellectually and emotionally draining as well.
You see, when you decide to sell your house, you are selling off a good chunk of your memories as well. You can still hang on to those memories, but the place where you experienced them is gone. How many times, while walking down the halls of your house, are you reminded of some treasured event from the past. When you have finished selling your house, you will not be able to walk down those halls anymore. Those memories will probably vanish.
Nonetheless, selling by owner does not have to be traumatic. It is true that selling your house has some financial and emotional strain to it, but it also has a considerable reward. It is hard to make a new start in the same place. When you are selling your house, you are not only making an economic investment in your new place, but also an emotional investment in your future. When I moved out of my last house, it was so much easier to let old emotional habits slide. I could be a new person again! I was on my own in a new place, and I felt free of the past. Selling a house can be just like that.
When selling your house, you have to be in the right mindset. You have to think practically. There are places that will sell your house fast, but unless you are in serious financial trouble you need to avoid them. Selling your house is not something you should do rashly. You'll get more money if you fix up before you sell it. It is really worth the time that you will invest in fixing it up. A house in good condition, after all, sells for a lot more than one in poor shape.
In the process of fixing it up, you should probably get rid of things that you don't need. You should sell your items at a garage sale, or if they're worth a lot of money, sell them online. That way, you'll have less to move into your new house. You will have the luxury of redecorating, and you'll have some extra money to buy new things with.
Summary
Selling your house can be a very trying situation. The key to getting what you want is to have a plan in place and do not just jump in to selling. Take a good hard look at the house and try to see it from a buyers point of view. Does it look dingy? Clean and fix anything which doesn't look right. have a yard sale and get rid of a lot of stuff you don't need. Use the money to pay for repairs.
