I remember back about five years ago that you could find free Internet service. Those companies are still around, but you have to pay for them now. I am not aware of any companies with good reputations that now offer Internet in your home that is totally free, but there are other places where you can go to find free service so you can get online without the bill. However, it is not as nice as having it in your home. If that is all you can get though, it will be something nice to know about locally.

One of the best places to get free Internet is your public library. You can usually go there whenever they are open to use their computers and it probably won’t cost you anything, though there may be some exceptions. There are restrictions though. If you want to go to some of the more risqué sites online, you probably can’t access them in the library, not that you would want to do so in a public place anyway. You may find that you can not go to some sites that seem to be harmless too.

If you have a laptop, you can find free Internet in many WiFi spots. These are places that supply Internet for free within a certain range. Some hotels have this in their lobby, and even in some of their rooms. You can also find this in bookstores and in coffee shops. Most places that have this free Internet will advertise that they do, so you can probably find this pretty easily if it is anywhere near your home. You do have to have a wireless card in your laptop though, and remember that these connections are not secure. Don’t do any banking or use your credit card when using free service in such a place if you can avoid it.

Another source of free Internet might be neighbors and family, but they may get annoyed if you keep coming over for that reason. What is great about getting online is that though you can get it for free in some cases, you can usually get it very cheap if you want to do so. You don’t have to spend a lot for fast Internet. Sometimes you can find dial up for as little as ten dollars a month. As long as you have a computer that is Internet-ready and a phone line, that is all that you need.

Free internet can be found in a variety of places. The public library often has many computer with internet access you can use as long as you wish. Neighborhood stores often offer free wifi if you have your own laptop as long as you purchase a little something from them. You can also mooch off family and friends, but that gets old very fast.
